Act Now to Take Down L.A.'s Illegal Digital Billboards.
The time is now to right the wrongs of the past, and to take our city back!
The settlement agreement between the Los Angeles City Council and CBS Outdoor & Clear Channel Outdoor led to the city's landscape being littered with over 100 digital billboards, none of which were allowed under our City's own laws.
After almost 6 years of community outrage & litigation, the Court of Appeal has finally ruled that the agreement was illegal and that the permits for those illegal billboards must be revoked.
At the same time, Councilmembers Krekorian and Alarcon, at the urging of CBS and Clear Channel and their lobbyists, have passed motions that purport to circumvent the Court of Appeal ruling and to whitewash and preserve these illegal digital billboards instead of have them taken down. After 6 years of reaping hundreds of millions of extra dollars from these illegal digital billboards, CBS & Clear Channel continue to use all the power & money at their disposal to pressure our City Council into preserving these signs.
Enough is enough!
The illegal settlement agreement was a stain on our Council, a harm to our residents and neighborhoods, and an insult to the rule of law. Now is the time for the City Council to have these illegal billboards taken down - not to preserve them.
Local businesses, residents, homeowners' groups, neighborhood councils, non-profits, the courts, and the press have all asked our City to remove these illegal digital signs.
The purpose of this website is to organize our efforts, to spread the truth about what is happening at City Hall, and to get the public to take action now!
One of these motions that hopes to "legalize" these illegal digitals could be passed into a new law by our City Council any day now. Please don't delay in helping put an end to this.
